Writing

Graphic Design

Let us create together.

I am fundamentally a writer. As to what, I can write anything. The core principles of writing are the same whether the end result is creative or technical, content or context.

I can write in any style, using any tool. The core principles of using these are the same, as well. I have experience with the following software:

  • 3D design: 3ds Max, Blender, Sculptris
  • Audio Management: Audacity, OpenMPT
  • Broadcasting: OBS Studio
  • Image editing: Gimp, Inkscape, Painter, Photoshop, MS Paint
  • Page Layout: Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Scribus
  • Video editing: Pinnacle Studio
  • Web design: Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage
  • Word Processing: Corel WordPerfect, Google Docs, Microsoft Word

SAGE

Sage is an ongoing project of my own, a tabletop game that hybridizes a simple board game with a more complex role-playing game, and offers players the choice of what level of complexity to engage. Included here are copies of the current drafts of the Quick Manual (comparable to a Quick Start Guide), the Character Creation Guide, and the first 5 pages of the Extended Manual (comparable to a User Manual). All of these manuals are currently undergoing iteration into new texts.

The documents were made using Scribus.

Fiction

I have meddled with fiction my whole life, but seldom held enough interest to finish a project. A new series of projects is now ongoing, in episodic format, to continue as long as interest can be drawn or maintained.

Dungeons & Dragons Supplementary Content

Born in the 1970s, D&D has somehow reached a new height of popularity, and is still growing. The expanding customer base, combined with the fact that many parts of the game are in the public domain, has created a wide market for third-party products of various sizes and qualities. I have produced several small offerings, and am nearing completion on a larger one.

Role-playing-game writing, in my estimation, is the perfect combination of creative and technical efforts. It needs to be original and interesting, and written in an engaging way, while also containing game mechanics that are properly balanced to ensure enjoyable gameplay, and well-explained to avoid any confusion.

The following were made using GM Binder, a service that uses CSS and Markdown to format pages according to the style of the official materials.

Wiki Content

I have spent much of my writing time in the last decade contributing to wikis, especially for the site TvTropes.org, where they have collectively garnered tens of thousands of views. While this has not been financially rewarding, I believe the site has great potential as a resource for learning writers and I am proud of some of the content I have produced, and I have strengthened the habits of collaborative writing by creating these pages among spontaneous teams of interested individuals. Because of the open editing nature of a wiki, I cannot claim complete credit for these works, but in almost every case, at least 90% of the main header text originates from myself.

Worldbuilding

Worldbuilding is my passion. It involves many disciplines, but chief among these is writing. The greatest concentration of my worldbuilding work can be found on the service site, World Anvil. The articles are not well organized, but within themselves show a particular quality of presentational writing. I have two active worlds in progress, with their main pages as follows:

Blogs

I struggle to keep blogs active, as I generally express my thoughts through more transient media. My most current blog is this:

Art and Writing

My DeviantArt page. Here I put anything I’m mildly proud of. Consists mostly of digital art, photography, and poetry.

Graphic Design

Logos and Icons

I have occasionally had the opportunity to design graphical logos for various purposes. For example:

A logo for a friend’s business.
A mandala for meditative purpose.

3D Design

I am competent with 3d software, and most familiar with SketchUp and Blender, using the former to create basic models to improve in the latter. I have a few long-term projects in the works.

Architectural design of a medieval tavern.
Interior of above design.
A labyrinth, part of an ongoing film project.

Redbubble

I upload most of my recent design works to my Redbubble store. Most are typographical in nature, and more are added gradually.
